Championship Series Thoughts From Twitter

Now that the Championship Series is over, it's time to take a look at a few more tweets from the final days. 

Leading off is the Women's Lacrosse League itself. New York Charging backup goalie Molly Laliberty did not see action during the Championship Series, but that didn't stop her from making an impact on the games. Laliberty was in charge of the video review IPad for the Charging, and she was perfect on challenges during the week. It's rare to see a player become a crowd favorite without ever actually stepping between the lines.

Next, Caitlin McDonough - a WLL beat writer - made a simple post regarding a two point shot in the WLL. I spent the first half of episode 125 talking about my desire for a two point shot. On Monday after the Championship Series ended, Megan Carney herself
tweeted a video of her drilling a shot from distance asking the WLL for a two point shot next year. Keep an eye on this as the WLL will likely meet with players at some point in time to discuss adjustments for the 2026 Championship Series. I wouldn't be surprised if the two point possibility comes up in conversations. 

Finally, we return to coach Benoit. I agree with Benoit here. It seems like Athletes Unlimited may have prematurely shut down their lacrosse division. After the resounding success of the Championship Series, it is important for the WLL to find a way to bring a summer season back into the fold for these women. His last sentence sticks out too. Probably the most notable player that is currently coaching in the college ranks is Sam Apuzzo - who won the AU individual Championship in 2024 for the first time in her career. To have her back on the field in 2025 would be a big win for the WLL.

2025 Premier Lacrosse Championship Series Preview

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Championship Series begins Tuesday, Feb. 11 as the New York Atlas and Maryland Whipsnakes square off at 9 p.m. eastern.  I had PLL fantasy expert Paul Lamonaca and lacrosse betting expert Hutton Jackson on the podcast to break down the Championship Series. Premier Lacrosse League College Draft Preview

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft is Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. eastern.  There have been several mock drafts thrown around in the last few weeks from various beat writers and insiders. There seems to be a consensus on who the first round players will be - it's just a matter of order. However, there could be some surprises on the horizon just like we saw with the NFL draft. Several notable names in the NFL Draft projected to go in the first round found themselves waiting until day two or - in Shedeur Sanders' case - day three. So it makes me think; what kind of surprises could we see with the PLL Draft? Possible Redwoods Trade? I reached out to California Redwoods beat writer (and guest of the podcast) Phil Shore and asked him about a possible Redwoods draft day trade.
