The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team looks to build off of the 2024 season which found the Titans in the MAC Title game.  The championship game appearance came in the Titans' first ever time in the MAC tournament field which began in 2022. Detroit Mercy entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and knocked off the No. 1 seed and host Central Michigan. Fist year head coach Alexa Matta had an interesting start to her tenure, originally being hired in the summer of 2024 as an assistant coach on then head coach Maddie Dugan's staff. Dugan would later take the head position at Eastern Michigan, allowing Matta to fill the Titans' vacancy prior to fall ball beginning. Matta joined the Taking The Field With Stevie Mac podcast hosted by Steven MacDonald and described the 2025 Titans as "hungry" after their taste of success in 2024.  Detroit Mercy returns quite a bit of production from last year's squad. Eastern Michigan women's lacrosse is set to begin year one under head coach Maddie Dugan in 2025.  Dugan comes to the Eagles by way of Detroit Mercy, where she took the Titans to the MAC championship game in 2024. She replaces Sarah Tisdale who left for the head coaching job at Florida State after helping to start the program at EMU.  Dugan joined the Taking The Field With Stevie Mac podcast hosted by Steven MacDonald to talk about the 2025 season.  On offense, the Eagles return eight of their top nine point producers from a year ago - led by Mackenzie Blackwell. "That kid - she's a dog," Dugan said of Blackwell. In 2024, Blackwell tallied 49 goals and 5 assists across 16 games. Blackwell finished last season third in the MAC for goals per game plus fourth in points per game and shots per game.  The defense will be anchored by sophomore goalie Maddie Porter. Porter was third in the league for goals against average, fourth in saves per game and fifth for save percenta...

The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse program is in a good position entering the 2025 season.  First year head coach Charlie Hayes joined the Taking The Field With Stevie Mac podcast hosted by Steven MacDonald to discuss the season. "We're going to change a good amount of stuff around here," Hayes said. Hayes hired former Johns Hopkins standout Zach Palmer to be the Offensive Coordinator. "When I met with him (Palmer) this summer - just listening to what he had in store for the offense - it was really exciting for me," Hayes said. "It's a good balance between some structure on the offensive side of the ball, but then a little bit of unstructured as well with a little bit of Canadian style free-flowing game." MacDonald and Hayes also discussed the Titans' move from the ASUN to the NEC in 2025, where they will see familiar foes Robert Morris and Cleveland State. "The timing is great for us," Hayes stated. "Myself takin...
